An interesting overview of how this kitten started, where this kitten has been, and where this kitten plans to go. After the demise of There Goes Atlantis in 1996 and many failed attempts to restore the group to full faith, Levon began working under the title Twitch. Although his intentions at the time were experimental, the solo project would carry on for four consecutive albums. The first release under the Twitch catalog "Shiva" (1996) was a dark recording paying homage to influences such as The Cure and Jesus & Mary Chain. Only 250 copies were released of this debut, with mixed reviews the album was popular amongst Gothic culture and fans of Dark Wave. Although this item will most likely never be re-released it has some provocative tracks such as Out at Night which exemplifies the ability to turn song into a dark journey. Late 1997 "Discover the Love" was released under Twitch, the second EP thats obvious topic took on an advantageous character, Levon was taking typical subjects and perfecting the ballad while twisting the slightest melodies. What came out of this were blurred love songs with tortuous sensibilities. The most notable track on "Discover the Love" is Rains in Autumn an acoustic twee-pop number with an irresistible chorus. It wasnt until November 1998 that "Soundtrack to My Dreams" the 3RD Twitch EP was released. This album features cinematic styling with heaps of guitar and analog synthesizer. There are a few instrumental numbers on this one as well, but most distinguishable are tracks like MRT (Mass Rail Transit) and Why I once loved Seahorses, both which are heavy on emotion. The final and 4th Twitch release came at in beginning of 2000, the long and awaited "Pharmacy". An entire album centered around the topic of prescription medicine. From the opener Blood Stained Pants to the closing track The Guest, this album ends the Twitch series off at a shockingly low conclusion. After supporting The Pharmacy with several shows and promotional outings, Levon left America for Australia in June 2000. He currently lives in Brisbane and plays guitar for EchoStar. The sound of EchoStar collages shoegaze, indie, lo-fi, and twee. EchoStar is currently putting the finishing touches on its line-up and is due to go into the studio later this year (2001).
